it looks like to me that some people are having a hard time separating "giving orders" with "bossy twit". not everyone who tells you what to do is being bossy. no monk is being "bossy" when they say things like "if you go do something stupid like X, you'll do it alone". i've certainly said such things, and no one would ever be stupid enough to label me as bossy. i'm willing to bet that those people who get all annoyed that a support character is the one leading are also the ones that completely ignore their support and then wonder why they weren't getting heals. perhaps it was because the entire opposing team was ignoring you (especially if you're a warrior) and concentrating on killing the healers. did you come to your healers aid? no? then you're not worth partying with. make a note to not party with me. also, those people who you've partied with that go rushing off and doing stupid things are bad players. bad players are not limited to one profession.

Ugh, I hate super suck players like this: I playd with one guy last night. He just headed off into a bunch of creeps and before the group had picked up their items, heal, and recharge their energy he headed of to attack more creeps. We were all saying STOP, WAIT, HEAL UP, RECHARGE. He even headed off once when a team member had died. We needed time to res heal up and recharge the fallen team memeber. He just went on HULK SMASH, HULK SMASH and left us with a man down.
His reponse? "I was already healed." As if it didn't matter that the rest of the group was there. HULK SMASH, HULK SMASH!! Just stupid.
I put it in terms he could understand. Let me pump you up with protection prayers before battle. So, I did. afterwards I says, "Do you see how little damage you took?" He finally realized maybe he wasn't the center of the universe. Maybe he needs the other group members.
Later on, In Ascalon I was selling a bunch of Hammer Grips and warrior weapons. Guess who shows up? HULK SMASH! If he had been a good TEAM player I would have given him a couple of grips, but screw him I sold them to him instead.
Point? We all need each other.
So, before battle, whether you're a monk, Mesmer, Warrior, etc just lay down the ground rules. It's the best thing. Even if you aren't leading. Just mention the rules. If they don't want to follow them then leave the group.

I try and not let people die. But if someone does die, I've learned the best way to make a PUG stop and rest between fights is to rez with Vengeance.

Heh...
Monk: "Wait, I need to recharge!"
Lead: "We're a big team, we can move on."
[Nearly everyone dies but the monk, who decides to heal from a distance and hide from the beasties, so he can at least res teammates when everything falls apart. Winds up saving everyone in the process.]
